Laurianne McLaughlin has asked some very important questions on her Inside Tech CIO blog about laptop security / notebook drift.

As Laurianne notes, it’s not just about the loss of laptops anymore, it’s about the loss of data. Data breach laws have changed the way companies have looked at "notebook drift" - no longer just a write-off, now a serious financial and legal issue.

Laurianne has written a review of our LoJack for Laptops product and how it can help recover laptops and/or, if needed, wipe them clean of data. Along with suggesting our product (thanks!), Laurianne points to an article on "how to protect your mobile data" that is worth your read. The article talks about encryption methods and applications, the difficulty in securing handheld devices, and the problems posed by data centers.
